The 7th Annual Streamy Awards will stream live on Twitter on Sept. 27, Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter announced Thursday.
The ceremony will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, handing out awards to online video programs and digital influencers.
This year, the Streamys will expand its branded and social good categories. It also will emphasize original programming with the addition of comedy and drama series categories. In addition, the Streamys has done away with gender distinctions in its performance categories.
“With new and expanded categories in social good, branded entertainment and original series, this year’s Streamy Awards reflect the growth and evolution of online and social video,” Streamys creator Drew Baldwin said in a statement. “Our new awards reflect the spirit of the industry, abandoning gender distinctions to focus on the unparalleled talent and passion that drives the creator community and their audiences.”
Added Ariel Elazar, executive vp brand, marketing and digital strategy at DCP: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Twitter for the 2017 Streamy Awards. Creators continue to use Twitter to not only distribute their content, but also as a primary way to engage with their audiences, so it is a natural fit to be the home of this year’s Streamy Awards.”
Submissions for the Streamys are now open on the show’s website. They will close at the end of the day on Friday, June 9. Fans will also be able to nominate one of five nominees in select categories. And two categories — creator of the year and show of the year — will be determined entirely by fan vote. Nominations will be announced this summer.
The 2016 Streamy Awards were live-streamed exclusively on YouTube, drawing more than 750,000 views. Last year, 6.8 million votes were cast for the audience choice awards.
