Winning an Oscar is all well and good, but if you really want to wow the public, you need to take home a prize at Cannes.
At least that’s the findings of a new poll conducted by University of Southern California professor Jeetendr Sehdev, who teaches a course on celebrity and branding at the school.
Surveying 2000 adults living in all 50 states, the study found that winners at the Cannes Film Festival were 11 percent more admired than Oscar winners, 10 percent less disliked, 16 percent more trusted and a whopping 35 percent cooler.
“Winners at Cannes are seen to be more friendly than those at the Oscars,” Sehdev concludes in his study. “The approachability factor works to the festival’s advantage.”
