Adidas has conjured up its latest “It” shoe — but this time it has nothing to do with Kanye West. The Furturecraft 3D is the company’s new athletic sneaker prototype featuring a fully customized 3D-printed midsole. Soon, customers will be able to have their feet scanned in stores and have that data transferred to a computer, where it will be used to create the ideal fit, perfectly aligned to the foot’s contours and pressure points. In an effort to turn a profit by next year, the Gilt Groupe is laying off 45 employees. The cuts come from the marketing and international divisions, where the company is looking to make structural adjustments in order to make up for dwindling traffic and sales. [TechCrunch]
