For her August cover story in Glamour magazine, Amy Schumer fulfills her duty as Hollywood’s funny feminist figurehead by discussing everything from industry sexism (“Every woman deals with [sexism] most every day of their lives. I felt that was unjust”), to being a role model for body confidence (“I think it’s good to see somebody saying: I have a belly. And I have cellulite. And I still deserve love. And to catch the old D”) as well as her plans for the future (“I want to make women laugh… I want to empower them to use their voice and not apologize. And I want a jet”). The comedienne, who admits she’s “not a perfect feminist,” does say she thinks they are “in good hands with me.” And we’d have to say, we agree. [Glamour]
Sudanese model Nykhor Paul, who has worked for brands like Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Acne, posted an open letter to the “white people in the fashion world” on Instagram today calling out the industry for not catering to models with darker complexions. “Please don’t take this the wrong way,” she begins, “but it’s time you people get your shit right when it comes to our complexion!” Paul goes on to discuss the double standard, asking, “Why do I have to bring my own makeup to a professional show when all the other white girls don’t have to do anything but show up wtf! Don’t try to make me feel bad because I am blue black its 2015.” Amen. [Instagram]

Tamara Mellon is pulling a Dov Charney and slinging fighting words at her former company, Jimmy Choo, which she co-founded in 1996 with the couture shoe designer of the same name. Mellon alleges that the label, which she left in 2011 before launching her own eponymous line in 2013, conducted business that was in breach of the European Union’s antitrust laws. Specifically, Mellon’s lawyers are accusing Jimmy Choo of asking Italian factories and suppliers to refuse to work with her, resulting in what effectively amounts to a “boycott of the Tamara Mellon brand.” Jimmy Choo has denied the allegations, which led to a series of back-and-forth letters between legal teams that is still ongoing. Looks like trouble in shoe paradise. [WWD]
As if she wasn’t doing enough, Taylor Swift is now adding “menswear fashion consultant” to her long list of job titles, which at this point also include, “professional Apple persuader,” “accomplished crop-top wearer” and you know, singer. The 26-year-old responded on Tumblr to one young fan’s inquiry about whether he should wear a tie or a bowtie to his upcoming prom, saying that while she prefers the tie, it really all “depends on what vibe you’re trying to convey.” Thanks for the sage advice, Tay.
