Drake is turning the tables and playing the muse rather than the artist for W mag’s upcoming art issue. Along with Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi, Drake has chosen five artists to help create his likeness for the issue. [W Magazine]
Investors got disappointing news after Burberry released low sales numbers in mainland China during the past two quarters. Same-store sales dropped 4 percent though the company had projected a 5 percent growth. While the company partially has the devaluation of the yuan and more out of hand factors to blame, others like Exane BNP Pariba’s Luca Solca speculate that brand-specific fatigue — a.k.a. “more of the same” — is at fault. The British Fashion Council’s list of nominees for the British Fashion Awards (held on Nov. 23) was announced today, and it looks like J.W. Anderson has a lot to celebrate. The 31-year-old designer was nominated not only for menswear designer of the year, but also for womenswear designer of the year, which he’s up against fellow Brit Victoria Beckham. Not too shabby. Contrary to popular belief, Lady Gaga‘s bold and sometimes garish costumes are not an ostentatious display of confidence but rather a “self-deprecating” cover which she hides behind. The singer, who also detailed her struggles with anxiety and depression, explained that she experiences “a dichotomy within,” in which she feels the need to dress wildly when she’s struggling most.
