This time, Charney is suing both the retailer and former board member David Danziger for defamation, claiming that both were responsible for irreparable damage to his name in the industry. The suit alleges that the board plotted to smear Charney by insinuating reports of criminal activity, which later resulted in his removal from the company. American Apparel is playing it cool at the moment, claiming that the suit is nothing more than “another example of the habitual nuisance lawsuits that Dov Charney and his lawyer continue to file, and which we continue to defeat.” Burn.
