Kendall Jenner Leaves Paris Fashion Week Early After Sister Kim Kardashian Is Attacked [People]
Following the violent assault against big sis Kim Kardashian in Paris on Sunday evening, Kendall Jenner also departed the City of Light. The 20-year-old was seen boarding a private plane on Monday morning, shielding her face from photographers. Both sisters were in town for Paris Fashion Week, where Kardashian attended the Givenchy show which Jenner walked in on Sunday. It appears that Jenner will not walk in the Chanel show on Tuesday, even though she has walked in the past nine shows for the brand.
British Vogue Debuts “Model-Free” Issue [British Vogue]
Upon picking up a copy of British Vogue’s November issue, which features Emily Blunt on the cover, readers might notice there’s one major fashion magazine element missing: the models. The glossy has declared the issue a “model-free zone,” instead choosing to outfit “real” women — including CEOs and academics — to wear designer labels. Editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman stated that she made the decision because “there is still a stigma attached to clearly enjoying how you look and experimenting with it if you are a woman in the public eye and not in the fashion or entertainment business.” Shulman wants to shake the idea that an interest in fashion is frivolous.
Vetements Releases Fashion Bible [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
Though it’s only two years old, Vetements has already staked its claim as one of Paris’ hottest fashion brands. On Wednesday, the label will pass on some of the secrets to its success by releasing a limited edition Vetements Fashion Bible, published by London’s Idea Books. The tome will feature behind-the-scenes images, mood boards and more details on how to craft “the cult of cool.” The book is available for $59 on Stylebop.com.
Kering Launches In-House Eyewear [Business of Fashion]
Kering’s first in-house eyewear collection will debut this month. (In 2014, Kering terminated its licensing agreement with Safilo, which had previously manufactured its eyewear.) Eyewear for Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent, among the company’s other brands, will now be produced by Kering Eyewear. According to BoF, Kering plans to disrupt the market by acting “more like a startup than a traditional luxury company,” meaning the Kering Eyewear team will remain independent from each fashion house, and be ready to adapt to the ever-changing e-commerce landscape.
