Though Rihanna‘s camp has yet to confirm or deny anything, reports about the fashion icon’s rumored new fashion line have been flooding the Internet. Grazia first broke the news about the possible project — an accessories line called $CHOOL KILLS — but now, Fashionista has pointed out that the phrase “School Kills” is very closely associated with Korean-born designer Hyein Seo‘s designs. In fact, Rihanna has recently been spotted wearing pieces from the urban-inspired collection, including an oversize tee emblazoned with the phrase. File this one under “things that make us go hmmm.” [Fashionista]
For the July issue of Teen Vogue, beauty editor Elaine Welteroth detailed her experience wearing her hair in Senegalese twists during a recent trip to Rwanda, referencing Zendaya‘s comments on dreadlocks as an inspiration for embracing her natural texture. However, backlash ensued over the casting of mixed-race model Phillipa Steele, whose photos accompanied the piece. Readers were infuriated to see what they believed was a “white girl” modeling for a story about women of color. Welteroth penned an essay in response entitled, “Why This Teen Vogue Beauty Story Started an Important Conversation About Race,” calling into question why some readers felt that Steele (who addressed the controversy on social media by stating that she is “half-black”) wasn’t “black enough” for the feature. Food for thought. [Racked]

Net-a-Porter has scored exclusive pieces from yet another designer label, adding to a growing list of which also includes Tom Ford. Los Angeles-based brand Co will launch an 11-piece pre-fall collection on Net-a-Porter beginning on July 1, featuring three pieces that are exclusive to the e-tailer. The modern label, which was founded as a joint endeavor by co-designers Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern, is characterized by “fine fabrics and unique silhouettes.” Prices of the pre-fall collection start at $525. For their fall 2015 campaign, Kenzo designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have tapped director George Araki (of cult ‘90s teen films The Doom Generation and Nowhere) to write and direct a short film entitled Here Now, which will showcase their men’s and women’s collections. The hauntingly whimsical video features a host of up-and-coming talent including Avan Jogia, Suburgatory‘s Jane Levy and Glee‘s Jacob Artist. The five-and-a-half minute short, which is seen as a sequel to Araki’s Nowhere, debuts on July 4. [Youtube]
