Thanks to Rihanna’s magic touch as Puma’s women’s creative director, sales of women’s apparel and, most notably, of women’s shoes, have increased steadily. These increases, however, come at a time when the company’s overall sales dropped by more than a third last quarter. The brand hopes that Rihanna’s new line, slated for release in 2016, will continue to help Puma climb out of its slump. [WWD]
Almost a year ago, Kylie Jenner infamously tweeted that she was “bored” by speculation about whether or not her lips were real. Like most things Jenner posts, the tweet went viral. Now, taking a cue from Marc Jacobs, the 18-year-old has decided to capitalize on the memorable moment by selling tees reading, “Talk about something new, I’m bored,” accompanied by a lipstick print because, as they say, if you can’t beat ’em, sell ’em things. For the first time ever, Project Runway has crowned a plus-size designer as its winner. Season 14 champ Ashley Nell Tipton, a 24-year-old from San Diego, was not only the first plus-size designer to make it to the finale, but also the first to send an entirely plus-size collection down the runway. Collaborations between luxury designers and fast-fashion retailers always generate a lot of buzz, but the most recent Balmain x H&M collab just might be the buzziest yet. The Swedish retailer reported to Bloomberg that interest in the collection exceeds that of all past partnerships, including Alexander Wang’s and Isabel Marant’s collaborations. [Bloomberg]
