Stella McCartney Is Consciously Uncoupling From Kering [Business of Fashion]
After 17 years together, Stella McCartney and Kering are reportedly calling it quits. Business of Fashion reports that Kering is selling its 50 percent stake in the company back to the designer, who will now fully own the business. The deal was originally slated for early January, but has allegedly been pushed back. Talks have apparently been brewing for quite some time, however, BoF says that talks have become more serious as of late. It’s interesting to note that McCartney has been one of Kering’s most vocal proponents of sustainability in the fashion industry, speaking on behalf of the luxury giant at conferences and festivals.
LVMH Net Profit Was Up 29 Percent in 2017 [WWD]
LVMH net profit was up 29 percent in 2017, marking a record year for the company. The company attributed its growth to the creative strength of its companies, namely Louis Vuitton, as well as its leadership. LVMH is already off to a buzzy start in 2018, making waves with the appointment of Hedi Slimane as the artistic, creative and image director of Celine.
Versus Versace Heads to Los Angeles for Spring Campaign [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
For its spring campaign, Versus Versace headed to Los Angeles for a sun-drenched photo shoot starring L.A. natives including visual artist Ama Elsesser, model Fig Abner and musician Lindsey Shrederley. Shot by Ben Tom, the campaign is meant to evoke “the Californian lifestyle” and “blend the playful energy of Versus with the distinctive street subcultures of L.A.” The ads are part of the second iteration of the brand’s #SubVersus campaign.
