Getty ImagesThe foundation of Sumner Redstone has donated $700,000 to benefit a Cambodian non-profit that helps impoverished children, the media mogul’s charitable organization announced Thursday.
“Cambodian Children’s Fund not only provides some of the most destitute children of Cambodia with a comprehensive education, but goes even further, providing the essentials of shelter and nutritional meals that are necessary for learning to take place,” Redstone said in a news release.

“As a longtime supporter of CCF, I have been so inspired by the accomplishments of these children, and am proud to strengthen and sustain programming which helps thousands of children, their families, and the entire community build a better life,” he stated.
Redstone is currently the chairman of CBS Corporation and Viacom with a net worth estimated at $4.1 billion, according to Forbes. The Cambodian Children’s fund, founded in 2004, offers education, childcare and healthcare programs for youth in the country’s capital, Phnom Penh.
The 89-year-old mogul’s charitable organization, the Sumner M. Redstone foundation, has previously announced donations to the CCF of $500,000 in April 2011 and $720,000 in June of that same year.
Scott Neeson, the executive director of the CCF, stated in the news release that he is “humbled by the consistency” of Redstone’s support.
“Mr. Redstone’s most recent donation provides a cornerstone for CCF,” Neeson said. “We have a long-term mission to provide essential care and a quality education to the most impoverished children in Cambodia. The generosity of Mr. Redstone ensures we fulfill that promise. He is truly an inspiration and I’m humbled by the consistency of his support.”
In January, Redstone’s foundation made a $10 million donation to the USC School of Cinematic Arts for a new production building.
