A24 has acquired U.S. rights to the Ryan Reynolds-led drama Mississippi Grind, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The acquisition was made in partnership with DirecTV.
A source pegged the deal at $2 million.

Co-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck‘s (It’s Kind of a Funny Story) film centers on a slick poker player and his friend who embark on a road trip to a high-stakes card tournament in New Orleans.

Ben Mendelsohn, Sienna Miller, Analeigh Tipton, Robin Weigert and Alfre Woodard also star.
In his review, THR film critic David Rooney called Mississippi Grind a “meandering road movie enriched by its fine-grained study of character and milieu, but somewhat lethargic and momentum-deprived in terms of narrative.”
A24 has already struck a number of times at Sundance 2015, picking up James Ponsoldt‘s The End of the Tour and the horror film The Witch.
