Lady Gaga kicked things off at Super Bowl 50 on Sunday with a pre-show performance of the National Anthem.
The singer and American Horror Story: Hotel actress took the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., where the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers were set to face off, and belted a soulful rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Dressed in a red sparkly pantsuit, Gaga was accompanied by a pianist as she belted the song while standing on a platform in the center of the field.
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin translated in American Sign Language during Gaga’s rendition.
In addition to Gaga, Super Bowl 50 also features performances from Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars, who will all be participating in the halftime show.
Gaga recently landed an Oscar nomination for best original song and Grammy nomination for best song written for visual media for “‘Til It Happens to You,” a track she co-wrote with Diane Warren for the sexual assault documentary The Hunting Ground.
