Tatiana Maslany, the one-woman arsenal of BBC America’s cult hit Orphan Black, will make her New York stage debut in the off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute’s The Way We Get By, about two people taking stock after a hot one-night stand.
She will star opposite Thomas Sadoski (of HBO’s The Newsroom and the upcoming Reese Witherspoon vehicle Wild) in the world premiere production at Second Stage Theatre. Sadoski was nominated for a leading actor Tony Award in 2009 for LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty.
Directed by Leigh Silverman (a Tony nominee last season for Violet), the play begins previews on May 12, 2015, for a limited engagement through June 28. The official opening date has not yet been set.
Maslany and Sadoski will play Beth and Doug, two attractive people who have no difficulty getting dates. But the morning after their steamy hookup at a drunken wedding reception, they find themselves grappling with the rules of attraction, sex and society as they consider what they really know about one another.

LaBute’s latest new work, The Money Shot, just wrapped its off-Broadway premiere run for MCC Theater. The Hollywood satire starred Elizabeth Reaser and Fred Weller.
The current Second Stage season includes a revival of Terrence McNally’s Lips Together, Teeth Apart, which stars Michael Chernus, Tracee Chimo, America Ferrera and Austin Lysy. That production officially opens Oct. 29. Also on the slate is a transfer of playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Atlantic Theatre Company hit, Between Riverside and Crazy, which opens Feb. 11.
A fourth summer production to complete the Second Stage season is to be announced.
