Taylor Lautner Talks Love, Loyalty and Forgiveness as ‘Breaking Dawn: Part 2’ Nears (Poll)

Twilight’s star Taylor Lautner speaks openly to Cosmo about love, loyalty and whether a couple can ever move past an infidelity and get back to a place of trust.

Gosh, wonder why Cosmo would ask Lautner about that? It’s not like his love life has been in the press lately.

Oh, right. These probing questions are an attempt to get the actor to go on the record about the Kristen Stewart/ Robert Pattinson cheating scandal and their reportedly getting back together.

Sly, very sly. But Lautner is an old pro at dodging questions bout his friends’ relationship. So he manages to effectively dodge their attempts.

When it comes to the topic of cheating or being cheated on, Lautner hedges, “To be honest, I’ve never been involved in any of those situations, so I don’t know [if trust can be regained]. It would be just a guess and a shot in the dark, and I don’t want to give that if I haven’t even been there myself.” 

On reconnecting with an ex after cheating, he is circumspect and still non-revelatory. “I absolutely think it’s possible. It depends on how long you were with that person. If it was a long, serious relationship, I think it’s quite easy to rekindle. I guess it depends on what damage was done.”

Then he weighs in on his feelings for his Breaking Dawn: Part 2 costar Stewart. The two have been very close friends since the first Twilight film. “Kristen in fantastic at everything she does,” he says. “I’m always proud of her.”

And naturally, he reflects on the qualities he appreciates most in a person.

“Honestly and loyalty are key. If two people can be honest with each other about everything, that’s probably the biggest key to success. I like to think of myself as very loyal, and I love everyone I surround myself with, whether they’re friends or girlfriends or whatever. I love loyal people.”

We’ll be watching what Stewart wears — Balenciaga, Balmain, Gucci, Prada, whatever — at the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 premiere to be held Monday, Nov. 12 at Nokia’s LA Live. Nicolas Ghesquiere has recently parted ways with the house that still has Stewart under contract for their Florabotanic fragrance.

But we will — like all their fans — also be very curious about her body language and behavior with Pattinson. Although they have been spotted an photographed being affectionate, it will be interesting if they make a public display that night.
