Carrie Underwood, Post Malone and Ty Dolla Sign are all set to perform at the upcoming American Music Awards.
Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid, Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ciara, Missy Elliott, Dua Lipa, Panic! at the Disco, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Zedd, Ella Mai and Twenty One Pilots will also take the stage to perform.
Swift will open with show with a performance of “I Did Something Bad” off of her 2017 album Reputation. The performance will mark Swift’s first awards show performance in three years. The 19-time AMAs winner is currently nominated for artist of the year, pop/rock female artist, pop/rock female album and tour of the year.
Underwood will perform a song from her new album, Cry Pretty. The 12-time AMA winner is nominated in the favorite female artist country category for the 2018 ceremony. The performance will mark Underwood’s return to the AMA stage for the first time since her 2015 performance of “Heartbeat.”
Malone and Ty Dolla Sign will team up in their AMA debut to perform “Psycho.” Additionally, Malone will perform a solo song from his second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys, during the fan-voted awards show. The album is nominated in the best rap/hip-hop category, while the rapper is also nominated for artist of the year, best rap/hip-hop artist, pop/rock male artist, collaboration and favorite song-rap/hip-hop for his song “Rockstar” with 21 Savage.
Ty Dolla Sign won in the collaboration of the year category at the 2016 ceremony for the song “Work From Home” with Fifth Harmony.
Carey will return to the AMAs stage for the first time since 2008 to make her television debut of the single “With You,” which is off of her upcoming album. The singer, who made her debut performance at the awards show in 1991, has previously won 10 awards.
Blanco is set to make his AMAs debut alongside Halsey and Khalid for a performance of their song “Eastside.” The collaboration is currently climbing the Top 40 radio charts.
Halsey will return to the AMAs stage following her 2016 debut performance of “Closer” with The Chainsmokers. The song earned the collaborators two nominations during the 2017 ceremony.
Khalid will also make his AMAs comeback following his performance of “Young, Dumb & Broke” with Imagine Dragons during the 2017 ceremony. The rapper is returning to the AMAs with nominations for best new artist, best soul/R&B album, best soul/R&B male artist and best song- soul/R&B for “Young, Dumb & Broke.”
Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin will join forces to perform their hit “I Like It.” It will be the first time all three musicians perform at the AMAs. The number will also mark Cardi’s first televised awards show performance since the birth of her daughter in July.
In addition to performing, J Balvin is nominated in the favorite Latin artist category.
Ciara will return to the AMAs stage for the first time since her 2005 performance to perform “Level Up” with Missy Elliott. The singer will then perform her new single “Dose” from her upcoming album. Missy Elliott has won two AMAs in the past, while Ciara has been nominated for two awards.
AMAs newcomer Dua Lipa will also take the stage to perform two hits from her self-titled album, including her latest single “Electricity.” In addition to performing, Lipa is nominated in the new artist of the year category.
Panic! at the Disco will also make their AMAs debut with a performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” as part of a tribute to Queen.
Cabello will take the stage to perform a song from her debut solo album Camila. In addition to performing, She is nominated for five awards at the 2018 ceremony, including new artist of the year and favorite female artist.
Mendes and Zedd will collaborate on a song from Mendes’ self-titled third studio album. The singer, who previously won the favorite adult contemporary artist award in 2017, is currently nominated in the favorite adult contemporary artist and favorite social artist categories.
Lopez will debut a new single from her upcoming film, Second Act, at the awards show. The singer and actress, who is a three-time AMAs winner, stars in the film as a 40-year-old woman who lands her dream job in New York City after her friend creates a false identity for her.
British singer/songwriter Mai will take the stage to perform her hit “Boo’d Up.” The performer just tied the record for the longest running No. 1 song by a woman on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart. She will also deliver a performance of “Trip” following the telecast for Comcast’s Xfinity TV customers exclusively on Xfinity On Demand.
Twenty One Pilots will return to the AMAs to perform the alternative/Indie track “Jumpsuit” off of their fifth studio album, TRENCH. The band previously won favorite duo/group- pop/rock and favorite alternative rock artist during the 2016 AMAs ceremony.
Cardi B and Drake lead this year’s nominations, with the two rappers each scoring eight nods. Malone and Ed Sheeran are both nominated in six categories, while Camila Cabello is up for five awards.
Tracee Ellis Ross will serve as the host of the 2018 AMAs. The fan-voted awards show will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET.
