Taylor Swift is ringing in 2015.
Hot off the release of her fifth album, 1989, the 24-year-old country-turned-pop singer will headline Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest on ABC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Swift, in the middle of an aggressive media blitz (a Hollywood Boulevard performance for Jimmy Kimmel Live! was her most recent splash), will lead what promises to be a star-packed lineup for the annual New Year’s Eve broadcast, which begins live Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 8 p.m. from Times Square. Though no specifics were revealed, Swift — who last performed in the 2013 edition — is expected to perform “her hit songs.”
It’s going to be a busy few months for Swift, who appeared on Good Morning America on Monday for an interview with Robin Roberts. Four days later, on Oct. 30, she will return to the stage for a GMA concert, performing songs from the new album. Swift is also slated to appear and perform on CBS’ The Late Show With David Letterman on Oct. 28, as well as sit on The View couch on Oct. 29.
The first single from the album, “Shake It Off,” has topped 2 million downloads since its August release and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her second song, “Out of the Woods,” co-penned by fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. This year, she will be awarded Billboard’s Woman of the Year honor for the second time.
“Each year New Year’s Rockin’ Eve continues its iconic legacy by delivering incredible performances from the year’s hottest artists, and this year is no exception,” said host and executive producer Ryan Seacrest. “We already have secured an unprecedented number of music acts, culminating with a Times Square performance by Taylor, the biggest superstar in music today.”
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest is produced by Dick Clark Productions. Seacrest, Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan are executive producers, with Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco co-executive producing. Larry Klein is a producer.
