Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese Reteam for Teddy Roosevelt Biopic

Leonardo DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese are reteaming for a Teddy Roosevelt biopic at Paramount, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Ttitled Roosevelt, the drama about the former U.S. president will feature a script by Scott Bloom. DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are producing through their Appian Way banner, with Scorsese and Emma Koskoff through Sikelia Productions. Chuck Pacheco is also producing.

Roosevelt served as the 26th U.S. president from 1901-1909, taking office after President William McKinley was assassinated. At 42 years old, the then-vice president became the youngest president in American history. The Navy veteran also served as New York governor and, during his presidency, pushed his “Square Deal” domestic policies and began construction on the Panama Canal. He most notably prioritized environmental conservation and established many new national parks and forests (a major point of interest for fellow environmental activist DiCaprio).

DiCaprio and Scorsese previously teamed on Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Shutter Island, The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street. They’re also developing adaptations of notable books The Devil in the White City and Killers of the Flower Moon.

DiCaprio, a best actor Oscar winner for 2015’s The Revenant, is also set to star in the crime flick The Black Hand, also for Paramount. He is repped by LBI.

Scorsese is currently directing the crime drama The Irishman starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Bobby Cannavale, Jack Huston and Harvey Keitel. He is repped by WME and LBI.
