With the massive success of The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games, the eyes of Hollywood have undoubtedly turned to the YA book genre to scope out future big screen hits.
But Glee actor Chris Colfer, currently on a book tour to promote The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell, doesn’t intend to rush his latest release to the theaters.

“I wrote a book, so I want it to be a book for a while,” Colfer told The Hollywood Reporter at the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. “And I want a movie to be wanted. I don’t want it to be something shoved down people’s throats.”
Being unwanted certainly doesn’t appear to be a problem Colfer should be concerned about, as fans have been flocking to each stop on his nationwide tour. The Land of Stories centers on twin boys, Alex and Conner, who leave their normal lives behind as they travel to a world of fairytales, filled with witches, wolves, goblins and trolls, but discover that returning home is even more difficult than they imagined.
“At the book signings I always expect people to ask me questions about Glee and everything, but all they want to do is talk about the book,” Colfer told THR. “It’s the biggest compliment ever.”
Earlier this summer, Colfer’s screenwriting debut, Struck By Lightning, was picked up by Tribeca Films. The movie, starring Colfer along with Allison Janney, Polly Bergen, Rebel Wilson, Christina Hendricks, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Hyland and Angela Kinsey, is expected to bow on demand later this year with a theatrical release date scheduled for late 2012.
