Everything was truly awesome at the Oscars on Sunday, when Tegan and Sara took the Dolby Theatre stage with the Lonely Island to perform their Lego Movie earworm.
During the incredibly fun and colorful performance that also featured Will Arnett as Batman and Questlove, construction workers and astronauts went into the audience to give out Oscar trophies made of Legos (very similar to the one director Phil Lord made when he learned the film wasn’t nominated in the animation category).
“Everything Is Awesome” was written by Shawn Patterson and was nominated for best original song.
Tegan and Sara and the Lonely Island were among the night’s lineup of musical performances, which also included numbers by Anna Kendrick, Jack Black, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Hudson, as well Tim McGraw, Rita Ora, Adam Levine, Common and John Legend taking the stage to perform the nominated original songs.
