NEW DELHI – The Indian release of Disney’s superhero caper The Avengers will include a specially composed Hindi theme song. “Hello Andhero” (Hello Darkness) is composed and performed by local band Agnee with lyrics by Bollywood filmmaker Abbas Tyrewala. A music video of the song has also been created.
Marvel Studios’ The Avengers is being distributed here by by UTV Motion Pictures, owned by diversified entertainment conglomerate UTV Group in which the Walt Disney Company recently acquired a majority stake.
The Avengers is set to release in India on April 27, a week ahead of its U.S. release date, and will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu for its 3D and 2D versions.
“The Avengers is the biggest Hollywood movie to be released this summer and we are delighted that Agnee and Abbas Tyrewala have given us a meaningful song that celebrates the victory of good over the forces of evil,” said UTVMP senior VP Shikha Kapur. “The song has only added a whole new dimension to The Avengers that already boasts of having the biggest Hollywood star cast (playing) supremely popular super heroes who come together for the first time to save the world,” said UTVMP senior VP Shikha Kapur.
The trend for including local songs in dubbed versions of Hollywood releases in India also saw the 2004 release of Spider-Man 2 featuring a Hindi song “Najane Kyun” (I Don’t Know Why) by Pakistani band Strings.
