The young actress, who made her Hollywood debut as George Clooney’s precocious daughter in The Descendants, has been tapped to co-star in NBC’s White House comedy pilot, 1600 Penn.
The project, which hails from 20th Century Fox TV, revolves around a dysfunctional first family whose out-of-control oldest son (Josh Gad) returns home and becomes not only its biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together.
Miller will play Marigold, the tough, youngest daughter of the president (Bill Pullman) and half of a pair of 13-year-old twins. She joins Gad and his fictional overachieving sister Brittany Snow, as well as Pullman and his White House press secretary, played by Andre Holland.
Modern Family director Jason Winer, former Barack Obama speechwriter Jonathan Lovett and Gad are attached as writers and executive producers on the half-hour project. Winer also will direct the pilot.
Late last month, Descendants writer Nat Faxon was tapped to star in Fox comedy pilot, Ned Fox is My Manny.
