The Quick Pitch: Partners Sean MacPherson and Jared Meisler—the team behind Bar Lubitsch, the Roger Room and new Italian restaurant Il Covo, among many others—have taken over the old Ye Coach & Horses in Hollywood (long a favorite of everyone from Tom Waits to Quentin Tarantino), glamming up its interior a bit in the process. They’ve brought on Spotted Pig vet Ralph Johnson for the modernized menu of classic British pub grub, from fish & chips to Welsh rarebit.
The Insider’s Dish: That rear room gallery lined with Maharajah portraits hand-painted in India is in part a quiet nod to the curry restaurant that stood next door for three decades.
The Must-Order Item: Super-creamy potted chicken liver served with grilled baguette slices.
The Best Table: One of the several high-backed red leather booths in the main room, with a direct view of the bar.
The Industry Neighbors: Roadside Attractions, Tim Burton Productions, Flower Films and Darko Entertainment.
