The Good Witch star Dani Kind, Juno Rinaldi and Jessalyn Wanlim have grabbed leading roles in Black-ish star Catherine Reitman’s upcoming original comedy, Workin’ Moms.
The 13-episode series follows four young women in a judgmental mommies’ group who form an unlikely friendship. Reitman, who is writing, directing and starring, plays a warm and grounded PR exec.
Los Angeles-based Reitman’s acting credits include It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Friends With Benefits and Knocked Up. Kind plays a no-nonsense therapist, Rinaldi (The Killing) plays a “lovable mess” and Orphan Black star Wanlim is in the role of a cute, but timid mother.
The half-hour created by Reitman for the CBC is produced by Wolf & Rabbit Entertainment. Production in Toronto is set to start in August.
“I was excited before, but now that we’ve cast these hilarious women to play Anne, Frankie and Jenny, I really can’t wait to get production started and bring these characters, that I have such affection for, to life,” Reitman said in a statement.
Reitman and Philip Sternberg are executive producers. Workin’ Moms is their production shingle’s first TV project. Other projects include Starting Over, a comedy also in development for the CBC, and the film Crusher, a thriller set in the world of urban snowboarding.
Kind is repped by Patterson Talent Management, Rinaldi is repped by The Characters Talent Agency and Wanlim is repped by Pantheon, Link Entertainment.
