Tiffany Haddish, Grammy Award winner? It’s possible — the actress is nominated for best spoken-word album for the audiobook version of her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn.
She’ll face off against Questlove (Creative Quest), Courtney B. Vance (Accessory to War by Neil deGrasse Tyson and Avis Lang), David Sedaris (Calypso) and Jimmy Carter (Faith — A Journey for All).
Carter previously won the same award in 2016 for A Full Life: Reflections at 90. Other recent winners include Carrie Fisher, Carol Burnett, Joan Rivers and Stephen Colbert.
Hollywood figures also dominated the category for best comedy album. Dave Chappelle, last year’s winner, is nominated for another one of his Netflix specials — this time, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation.
He’s up against two other former winners, Patton Oswalt (Annihilation) and Chris Rock (Tamborine). Rock has nabbed the award a total of three times, and Oswalt won as recently as 2017.
Also nominated in the category are Jim Gaffigan (Noble Ape) and Fred Armisen (Standup for Drummers).
The nominations for the 61st Grammys were announced Friday morning, and the final round of voting is Dec. 13-Jan. 9. The awards will air on Sunday, Feb. 10, live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center and broadcast on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT.
