Timbaland obviously isn’t a fan of the new Aaliyah biopic.
The famed music producer took to social media on Saturday night to express his disapproval of Lifetime’s Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, which premiered on the network the same evening.

During his rant on Instagram, Timbaland posted video commentary and numerous memes, such as “Lifetime Disrespects Aaliyah” and “I think everyone [sic] musician portrayed in this Aaliyah movie should sue the hell out Lifetime movie for failure of accurate casting.”
Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B follows the meteoric rise of Aaliyah, who was killed in a plane crash in 2001. The film, which is executive produced by talk show host Wendy Williams, stars Alexandra Shipp as the late singer.
“A lot of people keep asking me if I’m watching that bullshit — evidently not,” Timbaland said in one video. “No way. Not Timbo.” Later, he posted again, “People, thanks for the comments tonight on that bullshit Aaliyah movie. They have felt Timbo’s wrath tonight, baby, and that’s it.”
Lifetime also was called out by Aaliyah fans during Saturday night’s airing after the network posted tweets that seemed to romanticize her inappropriate relationship with R. Kelly. One Lifetime tweet asked the question, “Is Aaliyah too young to know?” An angry viewer responded with “WHY ARE YOU ROMANTICIZING PEDOPHILIA?!”
