While Taylor Swift received an apology from Amy Poehler, she’s not getting one from Tina Fey.
In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the country-pop superstar — who’s the butt of countless jokes for her short-lived, super-public romances with One Direction’s Harry Styles, Conor Kennedy and Jake Gyllenhaal, among other famous guys who wind up referenced in her song lyrics — suggests that Poehler and Fey can, well, go to hell following the duo’s Swift-targeted bit at the Golden Globes.
During this year’s telecast, hosted by the former SNL co-stars, Fey cracked that Swift, 23, should “stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son” and use “some ‘me time’ to learn about herself.” Poehler joked: “Go for it.”
But Swift was far from amused, telling VF: “You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.'” (Madeleine Albright said that.)

“If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron,” Fey told Entertainment Tonight. “I did not see that one coming. It was a joke, and it was a lighthearted joke. And it’s a shame that she didn’t take it in the crazy-aunt spirit in which it was intended.” (As for Cameron, the Avatar director was the subject of one of Poehler and Fey’s most talked-about one-liners of the night, pegged to the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty: “When it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.”)
In a statement earlier this week to The Hollywood Reporter, Poehler stated: “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. “
Meanwhile, Chelsea Handler jumped to their defense.
“I like that [Swift is] being that vociferous about something that she thinks they were out to get her. They were clearly making a joke just about her demeanor, which is embarrassing. I mean, she’s just dated so many men,” the E! late-night host said Tuesday on Bravo’s Watch What Happens.
“My theory about Taylor Swift is that she’s a virgin, that everyone breaks up with her because they date her for two weeks and she’s like, ‘I’m not gonna do it.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh, well, forget it. Then I don’t want to date you,'” Handler joked. “Every guy thinks they’re going to devirginize her, and they’re not. She’s never going to get devirginized, ever, ever, ever, ever.”
