NEW DELHI – Indian audiences will finally get to appreciate Jack’s painting skills and Rose’s youthful beauty in full detail, and that too in 3D.
When Titanic first released here in 1997, India’s Censor Board ordered cuts in the famous painting scene where Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson) sketches Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater) wearing just an emerald necklace.
The upcoming April 5 3D re-release of the James Cameron-directed film has now been passed without any cuts – according to the film’s India distributors Fox Star Studios – receiving a clear U/A (or Parental Guidance) censor rating similar to the MPAA’s PG-13 rating.
Titanic 3D will open here in English and dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu with 250 prints in 3D and 50 prints in 2D.
Last week, to promote the film’s release, Titanic producer Jon Landau visited India and brought along one of the film’s Oscar trophies. He attended a brief preview screening in Mumbai for select Bollywood celebrities and guests, before visiting Delhi.
