TLC has given Toddlers & Tiaras its first official spin-off after five seasons of the popular and controversial series.
The network announced Thursday that recent breakout star Alana Thompson, a six-year-old pageant competitor from Georgia, will appear in a six-part series, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, slated for an August premiere.

Thompson and her mother, June, have been become two of the more familiar Toddlers & Tiaras faces after a 2012 episode showed Alana drinking “go-go juice” before a competition. The drink, which worked her into a frenzy in front of the cameras, is a combination of Red Bull and Mountain Dew — and had the pair working the talk show circuit earlier in the year to defend their caffeine consumption.
Nicknamed “Honey Boo Boo,” Alana and her family — mother June, dad “Sugar Bear” and sisters “Pumpkin,” “Chubbs” and “Chickadee” — will be the focus of the series when the youngest daughter isn’t competing in pageants.
Though this is the first Toddlers & Tiaras offshoot to land on TLC, it’s technically not the first spin-off. Frequent subject of the series Eden Wood, now 7 years old, received her own series that will premiere on Logo later this year.
Toddlers & Tiaras producers Authentic Entertainment are producing Here Comes Honey Boo Boo for TLC.
