Tom Brady says he’s under orders from his wife, model Gisele Bundchen, to stop talking politics.
The New England Patriots’ quarterback briefly touched on the subject Wednesday while talking to the press after a team practice.
The NFL superstar found himself thrust into the 2016 presidential campaign spotlight over his friendship with Donald Trump, which the billionaire businessman touted when he campaigned around New England. Although he never officially endorsed Trump publicly, Brady was once again in the middle of the conversation days ago when the now president-elect told supporters that Brady and Pats’ coach Bill Belichick personally endorsed him just days prior.
Brady was asked Wednesday if he gave Trump permission to say the QB privately endorsed him.
“Why did I give him permission? So, you’re assuming I gave people permission,” Brady said to reporters.
Bundchen responded on social media shortly after Trump’s announcement that the couple did not support the GOP presidential nominee.
“I talked to my wife, and she said I can’t talk about politics anymore,” Brady said. “I think that’s a good decision, maybe for our family.”
