Tom Brokaw is getting a new show.
Clear Channel Media and Entertainment announced Monday that the TV newsman and author will launch the nationally syndicated radio show An American Story.
An American Story will cover several topics ranging from current events to historic figures to moments in history that impact the lives of today’s Americans. The show will air weekdays, three times per day, on select Clear Channel stations in the U.S.
“There are few public figures as respected as Tom Brokaw, one of the most trusted journalists in America. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his insights and perspectives to our listeners across the country,” said Tom Schurr, president of major markets for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment.
Added Brokaw: “I am grateful to Clear Channel for the opportunity to offer observations on the dynamic changes in America as well as the lessons from our past. Radio is where I began and it’s good to add it once again to my television duties.”
Brokaw was anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News from 1982-2004 and wrote The Greatest Generation, among other titles. He has received a slew of honors over his illustrious career, including the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award, an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement and induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is currently a special correspondent for NBC News and works on documentaries for other outlets.
