Tommy Hilfiger will be feted with the 2015 Medal of Hope Award at the Nancy Davis-hosted 22nd annual Race to Erase MS event, scheduled for April 24 at L.A.’s Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.
The fashion designer and philanthropist said he’s “truly honored” about the recognition. “I’ve been proud to support the Race to Erase MS over the years and am humbled to be this year’s honoree. Nancy has been a great friend and champion of the cause to raise awareness and funds to fight this horrible disease,” he said.
For her part, Davis said she’s thrilled to honor Hilfiger, who has a long history with the charity. As he mentioned, Hilfiger has supported the organization over the years, both as a sponsor and as co-chair of Race to Erase MS events. Davis called Hilfiger “a good friend, humanitarian and the most generous person I know,” adding that she’s optimistic about the future. “There are now 11 FDA approved drugs on the market for MS and as a team we have been able to take the stigma away from hopelessness to hopefulness.”
Davis and Hilfiger have partnered on MS events in such cities as Aspen and Vail in Colorado, Las Vegas and L.A. This year, they will combine their talents once again for the 22nd annual edition, which will include a dinner gala, musical entertainment, a silent auction and a live auction. On the block for the auction will be a bespoke Aston Martin designed by Hilfiger, among other luxury items. Sponsors include Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Aston Martin and Associated Television International.
All funds raised support Race to Erase MS’s Center Without Walls program, a collaboration of the world’s leading MS research scientists currently representing Harvard, Yale, Cedars Sinai, University of Southern California, Oregon Health Science University, UC San Francisco and Johns Hopkins.
