NEW YORK — The 68th Annual Tony Awards honoring the best of the Broadway theater season will once again be presented at the event’s traditional home, Radio City Music Hall, with the ceremony set to take place Sunday, June 8, 2014.
The awards show will air live on CBS, its broadcast home since 1978.
While the Tonys were presented for two consecutive editions at the more intimate Beacon Theatre uptown due to a booking conflict, the awards returned to Radio City this year, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

The theater awards telecast again this year won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Program, the show’s fourth straight win in that category since 2010. The 2012 edition, which was eligible this year, won three additional Emmys for Musical Direction, Original Music and Lyrics, and Technical Direction.
Productions from the 2013-14 theater season eligible for Tony consideration next year must open by April 24, moving the cutoff date forward by a few days. Nominations will be announced live on Tuesday morning, April 29, from New York.
A host for next year’s Tonys will be announced closer to the date.
Whether Harris returns to host for a fifth time remains unclear, given that he will be performing on Broadway as the transgender East German refugee rocker of the title in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. That production begins previews March 29, with official opening set for April 22, putting Harris in the running for Tony consideration as best actor in a musical.
The Tony Awards are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
