She may be the top broker in one of L.A.’s hottest neighborhoods, but that doesn’t make Tami Pardee, founder of Venice-based Halton Pardee + Partners, immune from the judgment of neighbors. The writers of community play Ghost Town, which tackles gentrification and ran Aug. 4-6 in Venice’s Oakwood Park, included a villain clearly based on the realtor named last fall as one of Hollywood’s top 25 real estate agents by THR.
By day, the character Vivian (played by Page Leong) is a sweet, middle-aged yogi who lunches on trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard and feigns interest in neighborhood integrity. But at night, her alter ego comes out — a money-hungry, cutthroat developer who presides over “Hardee Har Har” properties and will do anything to land a commission.
To be fair, hipsters, dog owners, yuppie parents and the technorati of Silicon Beach also got theirs in the 90-minute play produced by the Cornerstone Theater Group.
A rep for Pardee declined comment.
