Glenn Close, Armie Hammer and Larry Wilmore will speak as part of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival industry conference, organizers said Thursday.
Close will talk about her Hollywood career, while Black-ish‘s Wilmore and Veep creator Armando Iannucci, who is bringing The Death of Stalin to TIFF, will talk about the art of political satire. Close plays the title role in The Wife, the adaptation of the Meg Wolitzer novel directed by Sweden’s Bjorn Runge, with Jonathan Pryce co-starring.
TIFF also announced Hammer and Timothee Chalamet will be joined by helmer Luca Guadagnino to discuss their Sundance hit Call Me by Your Name. Also keynoting is Mary Harron, the veteran film and TV director, who is bringing Netflix’s Margaret Atwood drama Alias Grace to the fest for a screening as part of the Primetime sidebar.
Additionally, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, execs from U.K. producer Working Title Films, will discuss the making of indie hits like Baby Driver and Les Miserables and their upcoming titles Darkest Hour and Victoria and Abdul. Elsewhere, the Dialogues program will host a panel on diversity in Hollywood featuring Graham Taylor, partner and head of WME Global; Syrinthia Studer, executive vp worldwide acquisitions at Paramount; and The Black List founder Franklin Leonard.
The Doc Conference has added directors Heidi Ewing, Rachel Grady, Brett Morgen, Sam Pollard and Denis Cote to a speaker lineup that includes the already announced Morgan Spurlock and Brent Hodge. Keynotes by Dallas Buyers Club producer Cassian Elwes and Swedish Film Institute CEO Anna Serner have already been announced by fest organizers.
The Toronto International Film Festival is set to run Sept. 7-17.
