Mud actor Tye Sheridan is joining John Travolta in the heist film The Forger.
The 16-year-old actor, who launched his acting career with a role in Terrence Malick‘s 2011 Oscar-nominated film The Tree of Life, will play the ailing son of Travolta’s character.
Directed by Philip Martin, The Forger will start principal photography in Boston in October.

Code Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso will produce along with Prospect Park’s Rob Carliner. Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel will executive produce with The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson. Anson Downes and Linda Favila are co-executive producing.
The Solution will handle international sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. WME Global and ICM Partners are handling domestic sales.
From a script by The Call writer Richard D’Ovidio, The Forger follows a former child art prodigy and petty thief, Ray Cutter (Travolta), who makes a deal to get out of prison early to spend time with his ailing son Will (Sheridan). But Ray is then roped back into completing one more job for the people who assisted in his release.
Sheridan, who will next be seen opposite Nicolas Cage in David Gordon Green‘s Joe, is repped by WME and Mosaic.
The Solution’s current slate includes Felony, starring Tom Wilkinson and Joel Edgerton, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival; Grand Piano, starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack; action-thriller November Man, with Pierce Brosnan; and romantic comedy 5 to 7 starring Anton Yelchin and Bérénice Marlohe.
