Shia LaBeouf came under fire for speaking against Indiana Jones last year, saying that he and Steven Spielberg “dropped the ball” on the film and if he’d made a follow-up, his “career [would be] over.”

“I think I told him he was a f–king idiot,” Ford tells Details magazine.

“As an actor, I think it’s my obligation to support the film without making a complete ass of myself,” he went on. “Shia is ambitious, attentive and talented—and he’s learning how to deal with a situation which is very unique and difficult.”
LaBeouf tells Details that Ford actually commended him for speaking his mind about the planned sequel to 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull — but told him to tone it down in public.

“I got lambasted for that, and understandably so,” said LaBeouf of his comments about Indiana Jones.
LaBeouf’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon was expected to gross $38 million on Wednesday, it’s opening day.
