Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment has issued a joint statement regarding the death of a 53-year-old Twilight fan, identified as Gisella G., who was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street to line up for admission into Hall H at San Diego’s Comic-Con.
“Lionsgate, Summit and the entire Twilight community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year’s convention in San Diego. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H,” the statement read. A Twilight panel is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

The woman was “bleeding profusely” from the head when she was rushed to the hospital. The 67-year-old driver remained at the scene for questioning by the police.
The victim’s twitter feed (@Mad4Hugh) is already full of condolences from fellow Twilight fans and other Comic-Con attendees.
Comic-Con rarely has had to deal with major injuries or incidents, though two years ago a young man stabbed another with a pen while fighting for seats in the convention center’s Hall H. A few years prior, a beam collapsed in Hall H, injuring several fans including Collider.com editor-in-chief Steve Weintraub.
