Rake TV Still FOX - P 2013
FOXLONDON – Universal Channel has secured rights to host the U.K. premiere of U.S. legal drama Rake, starring Greg Kinnear, in a deal with Sony Pictures Television.
Set to premiere on Fox in the U.S., Rake marks Kinnear’s broadcast TV series debut as a brilliant but self-destructive criminal defense lawyer named Keegan Joye.

Following the success of Bates Motel and Sleepy Hollow, Rake is the latest high-profile acquisition for Universal Channel’s fresh character-led line-up.
Rake sees Joye spar with everyone around him — including his ex-wife, the judges, the assistant district attorney, his bookie, and even the IRS — as he relies on his wit and charm to defend the indefensible, both in and out of the courtroom.
Universal Channel director James Newton described the show “as one of the most talked-about series of this year’s L.A. Screenings.”
“It immediately became a prime target for us, and we’re delighted to have secured it this early, long before its U.S. launch,” he added.
Rake also stars Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings), John Oritz (Fast & Furious), and Necar Zadegan (24).
Rake is an adaptation of the Australian series of the same name created by Peter Duncan, who serves as creator and executive producer, along with executive producers Peter Tolan, Sam Raimi, Ian Collie, Richard Roxburgh and Michael Wimer.
It is produced by Fedora Entertainment, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
