USA Network has named Jeffrey Kaufman as senior vp digital.
In his new position, Kaufman will oversee product development, monetization strategies and content development for USA’s digital properties. He will report to Alexandra Shapiro, executive vp brand marketing and digital, and will be based in New York.
“Jeffrey’s varied expertise in the digital space, combined with his research background, make him perfectly positioned to lead USA’s digital strategy,” said Shapiro in the announcement. “We are looking forward to having his expertise back in the NBCUniversal fold.”
Kaufman’s appointment marks his return to the NBCUniversal family, where in 2006 he led content strategy and editorial for the launches of Hulu and the National Broadband Company.
He has worked at MTV Networks, YouTube and was most recently Alloy Entertainment’s senior vp digital video, where he led the company’s video strategy, programming and production for all channels, including Smosh and Clevver. Kaufman also launched several new channels, including Smosh Games, which had 1 million subscribers in just three months.
The news comes as USA recently debuted USA Sync, syndicating content to more than 95 million users across multiple digital platforms and second-screen apps. The network has also launched supplemental digital content for its original scripted programming, including the Emmy-nominated Psych: HashTag Killer and graphic novels for Burn Notice, Graceland and Suits.
