The executive shuffling continues at NBCUniversal’s cable networks.
Syfy president of original programming and co-head of original content at Universal Cable Productions Mark Stern is out and USA Network’s Bill McGoldrick will replace him and serve as exec vp original content. Additionally, USA’s Jackie de Crinis will replace McGoldrick in an expanded role as exec vp original programming at the network. McGoldrick will report to Syfy president Dave Howe and de Crinis will report to USA president Chris McCumber. Stern, following an 11-year run at the top of Syfy’s original development, will become an executive producer for a new Syfy series set to bow in 2014.
“Bill comes to Syfy at the perfect time as we refocus our efforts to deliver even more quality, stand-out event programming,” Howe said. “I’d also like to thank Mark for his years of passion, drive and dedication. He’s made incredible contributions to the success of the network and I’m delighted that we will continue to benefit from his extraordinary talent.”
During his tenure at Syfy, Stern led a creative team responsible for to-rated hits including Face Off, Warehouse 13, Defiance and Battlestar Galactica.
McGoldrick most recently was exec vp original scripted programming at USA, where he oversaw development on series including Graceland, Suits and the network’s first cable entries, Sirens and Playing House. Following a four-year run at Spike, he developed the network’s first dramas, Kill Point and Blade. Before that he was vp series development at USA, where his credits included Psych and The 4400. He first joined the network as an executive assistant in 1998.
In her new post, de Crinis will be responsible for all production and development of original programming at USA, including scripted and unscripted. Before her promotion, she was senior program executive, charged with all current scripted programming and pilot productions for the network. Since joining USA as senior vp scripted series in 2000, she has overseen development on Burn Notice, Royal Pains, White Collar, Covert Affairs and Monk. Before that, she had stints at ABC as vp drama and 20th Century Fox and TriStar, where her credits included The X-Files, The Practice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mad About You and Party of Five.
