Valiant Entertainment has announced details of Harbinger Wars 2, its 2018 comic book event that will pit the various heroes of its superhero universe against each other — and it’s set to surpass its 2013 predecessor.
Two new teaser images for the project reveal not only a launch date — May 2018 — but also a creative team for the project: Matt Kindt and Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer will co-write the series, while art will be provided by Tomas Giorello and Raul Allen. This makes the series a dual rematch, as Kindt and Giorello worked together to launch the publisher’s current best-selling X-O Manowar series, while Heisserer and Allen are collaborators on the Secret Weapons miniseries, which launches next month.
The teasers also offer two faceoffs between characters for the series — Secret Weapons‘ Livewire and nanite-fueled super soldier Bloodshot, and X-O Manowar and Harbinger: Renegades‘ Peter Stanchek. The teasers alone reveal the expanded scope of this series, as the original Harbinger Wars crossed over only the Harbinger and Bloodshot franchises.
Furthermore, the teasers potentially spoil Kindt’s X-O Manowar series, which is scheduled to finish in April 2018; that series currently sees the X-O character in deep space, having abandoned Earth some time in his past. What will happen over the coming months to bring him back to his birth planet?
More information about Harbinger Wars 2 will be revealed in upcoming months.
