Veteran film finance executive Ron Hohauser has been appointed chief financial officer of Exclusive Media, as well as being named to the executive board. He’s been a financial and strategic consultant at Exclusive for the past year.
Hohauser — who previously did stints at Summit Entertainment and Marvel Studios — will oversee all film financing strategies for Exclusive’s three production ventures: flagship label Exclusive Media, the U.K.-based genre arm Hammer Films and documentary division Spitfire Pictures.
As a member of Exclusive’s executive board, Hohauser will be part of the core team focused on sourcing equity opportunities and building strategic partnerships for the company.
Q&A: Exclusive Media Co-Chairs on ‘Jane Got a Gun’ Woes, Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’
“Ron Hohauser has an impeccable history of steering companies through growth to strong commercial success and his expertise, particularly in raising finance will be invaluable as Exclusive Media continues to expand its production and distribution operations,” Exclusive Media co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East said in announcing the appointment.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the executive Bbard alongside Guy and myself, Simon Oakes and Marc Schipper,” Sinclair continued.
Along with Hohauser’s arrival, Exclusive has also elevated Chris Lytton to the position of executive vp business and legal affairs/general counsel.
As a financial and strategic consultant for Exclusive, Hohauser helped the company navigate its expansion into domestic distribution with the launch of Exclusive Releasing.
STORY: Exclusive Media Inks Equity Slate Deal
Previously, Hohauser was CFO for Summit Entertainment, helping Summit to raise more than $1 billion in equity and debt financing in 2007. He also led the $750 million recapitalization of Summit in 2011, as well as the sale of Summit to Lionsgate in January 2012 for more than $400 million.
Prior to Summit, Hohauser was senior vp finance and operations at Marvel and CFO of Marvel’s production entities. Among other duties, he helped Marvel secure a $525 million film production credit facility that allowed Marvel to operate with more autonomy and launch new franchises including Iron Man.
On his appointment at Exclusive, Hohauser said: “Exclusive Media is one of the most dynamic companies in the independent film industry today.”
Exclusive Media’s current production slate includes Ron Howard‘s Rush, Parkland and Can a Song Save Your Life? All three films debuted at the Toronto Film Festival, which wrapped Sunday.
