Online music video joint venture Vevo on Tuesday launched a standalone service in Brazil.
The popular music platform is also already available in the U.S., where it launched in Dec. 2009, Canada, the United Kingdom, as well as Australia and New Zealand, where it launched earlier this year.
The launch will bring 50,000 high-definition music videos from international and local stars to the Brazilian market. Among the videos from local stars are ones from Paula Fernandes, Daniela Mercury, Ivete Sangalo and NX Zero.
Through syndication partner YouTube, the online video service owned by Google, Vevo videos have been available in Brazil since 2011. Now the full Vevo platform, including Vevo.com and free apps for smartphones and the iPad, are now available.
The platform will also launch on the mobile Internet and Xbox later this month.
Vevo, a venture of Sony Corp.’s Sony Music Entertainment, Vivendi’s Universal Music Group and Abu Dhabi Media, offers music videos, original music series and live concerts. EMI has also licensed content to the group.
