Less than a week before Victoria premieres at MIPTV, where it’s expected to be one of the major buzz productions on Cannes’ Croisette, ITV has unveiled a teaser for the big budget series.
Starring former Doctor Who sidekick Jenna Coleman as the young British monarch Queen Victoria, the eight-part period drama, produced by Mammoth Screen and PBS, is being lined up as a successor to Downton Abbey.
It has already inherited the outgoing series’ Sunday night slot when it lands on Masterpiece in 2017. Like Downton, however, British audiences will get to see the drama earlier (this year, in fact).
The 12-second teaser shows Coleman’s crown-sporting teenage queen accepting the “great responsibility” that lies before her.
