One day after NBC’s Today steamed up morning TV screens with the debut of the first trailer for the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey, the show got viewers hot and bothered again, taking them behind the scenes of the hotly anticipated film.
NBC’s Natalie Morales visited the movie’s Vancouver set, observing a day of filming at the Fairmont Hotel, including some key elevator scenes, and talking to stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson and author EL James about the film’s explicit sex and the lead characters.
James reassured fans that the book’s racy moments won’t be less risque on screen.
“What I’ve seen hasn’t been particularly watered down, so, um, yeah, I thought it was interesting,” she said, fanning herself. “So that’s all I’ll say about that.”

James added, “I think people are going to be really, really pleasantly surprised with what we’ve done. So I’m looking forward to that day when people can finally see it all.”
Dornan offered more of a hint about the type of sex they’ll show on screen.
“It’s going to be sexual and everything, but it’s not going to be something that’s going to be hard to watch,” Dornan said.
Johnson added, “It’s more about what visually our bodies are doing, so it’s more of a dance, like acrobatics.”

“Sexual acrobatics,” Dornan finished.
And Johnson got everyone flustered when she made a “really inappropriate” joke about how Dornan got ready for their sex scenes. The clip was so risque, Today couldn’t show that part of Morales’ set visit on the air.
Check out the too-hot-for-morning-TV discussion and more from the Fifty Shades set below, including more joking about the film’s sex scenes from Dornan and Johnson.
Fifty Shades of Grey is being distributed by NBC’s sister company Universal Pictures.
