The mean-spirited details of Kristen Wiig‘s pseudo-relationship have been revealed in a new trailer for Liza Johnson‘s Hateship Loveship.
VIDEO: Kristen Wiig on Being ‘Terrified’ of ‘Hateship Loveship’ Role, Why She Didn’t Watch ‘SNL’
Wiig stars as Johanna Parry, a profoundly shy, unadorned woman who is hired by Mr. McCauley (Nick Nolte) as a housekeeper and a primary caregiver to his granddaughter, Sabitha (Hailee Steinfeld).
The trailer shows how Sabitha uses email to foster a fake relationship between her widowed father (Guy Pearce) and Johanna, as friendly phrases and intimate conversation bring Johanna to Chicago to visit him, only to be confronted with the truth of the practical joke.
The IFC film, based on a short story by Alice Munro with a screenplay by Mark Poirier, also stars Christine Lahti, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Sami Gayle.
