“As soon as I see a dress on a red carpet or runway, I am always able to guess that it’s his,” says Mara of Mendel’s distinct style.
Cameron Krone“My favorite color is white,” said actress Kate Mara, while in conversation with designer Gilles Mendel and The Hollywood Reporter. “This past Emmys I wore a beautiful white gown of his, but the year before was my absolute favorite dress I have worn.”
Mara is talking about the gown that she wore to the 2013 Emmys — floor-length, white, with intricate beaded accents — which was designed by Mendel, one of THR‘s top 25 red-carpet designers.
“She is daring, which helps me to push the boundaries in dressing her,” said the fourth-generation French fashion designer, adding: “In order for her to really shine she not only needs to look beautiful but she needs to be comfortable.”
