A familiar face is returning to The View.
Former co-host Sherri Shepherd has signed a deal that will bring her back as a lead contributor for season 19, according to sources.
The ABC daytime talk show has been undergoing several creative changes. Raven-Symone and Michelle Collins recently joined longtime co-host Whoopi Goldberg following the departures of Rosie Perez, who bid a tearful farewell to the show on July 21, and Nicolle Wallace, who will not return full time in the fall.
Actress Candace Cameron Bure and Good Morning America Weekend co-anchor Paula Faris are also nearing deals to join The View.
An announcement regarding on-air talent is not expected before the end of the season, which wraps next week.
Shepherd joined The View in 2007 and won a Daytime Emmy along with the rest of the on-air team for best talk show hosts in 2009. She left at the end of season 17 along with new addition Jenny McCarthy and Barbara Walters, who retired in May 2014.
Since leaving The View, Shepherd has appeared in Top Five and TV Land’s The Soul Man.
ABC declined to comment.
