Is the bedroom community of La Cañada too sleepy for Vince Vaughn and Adam Carolla?
The actor and the comedian-podcaster purchased neighboring properties in the affluent suburb within months of each other in 2013. Just two years later, they are both pulling up stakes from the small San Gabriel Valley town.
Currently starring in HBO’s True Detective, the 45-year-old Vaughn and his wife, Kyla Weber, paid $3.925 million for a Colonial Revival-style home on Woodleigh Lane in April 2013. Sited on a .75-acre gated lot, the 5,563-square-foot residence was built in 2000 and features five bedrooms, six baths, formal living and dining rooms, a gourmet kitchen with butler’s pantry, a saltwater swimming pool and a sport court. As reported by Zillow, the house returned to the open market on Aug. 3 with an asking price of $5.299 million.
Carolla — who recently wrote and directed Winning, a documentary about the car-racing career of Paul Newman — and his wife, Lynn Paradise, acquired the property next door to Vaughn’s in July of 2013. Built in 1921, the Spanish-style hacienda features four bedrooms, four baths, beamed ceilings, hardwood and tile floors, a Batchelder-tiled fireplace, a saltwater pool with spa and a basketball court. While the home’s expansive front lawn is real grass, the Los Angeles Times reports that its backyard has been outfitted with drought-conscious artificial turf. Purchased for $2.965 million, the half-acre property was listed at $3.495 million on July 27; a sale is already pending.
